QINGDAO, China, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Qingdao Eagles suffered their fifth successive league defeat, losing 126-83 to Shanghai Sharks in the 2019-20 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season on Thursday.

Shanghai launched an 18-5 run in the first quarter, with Luo Hanchen hitting three-pointers and leading his side into a 30-15 lead after the quarter.

Ju Mingxin hit a driving layup to broaden the gap to 25 points at the break. Shanghai embarked on a 7-0 run in the opening of the third quarter and pushed the lead to over 30 points to kill any suspense.

"We need to adjust our players to the downturn. Players want to win the game, but a lot of the balls were not handled well," commented Wu Qinglong, head coach of Qingdao.

Ray McCallum scored 20 points for Shanghai, Ju Mingxin collected 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Zhai Yi grabbed 20 points for Qingdao, and Zhang Chengyu had 18 points and three rebounds.

"It was a wonderful evening for us. Hopefully we can win as many games as possible. We will continue to fight hard," said Manos Manouselis, head coach of Shanghai.

Shanghai Sharks will next take on Guangzhou Loong Lions, while Qingdao Eagles face Guangdong Southeast Tigers. Enditem
