TOKYO -- An emergency rain warning was issued by the weather agency here Monday for more torrential rain to hit regions in Japan's southern deluge-hit Kyushu, where heavy downpours over the weekend caused widespread floods, landslides and claimed the lives of more than 20 people.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the latest emergency warning, the highest on the agency's scale, was issued for Nagasaki, Saga and Fukuoka prefectures in the region late Monday afternoon. (Japan-Emergency rain warning)

NEW DELHI -- India's federal health ministry Monday morning said 425 new deaths due to COVID-19, besides fresh 24,248 positive cases, were reported during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 19,693 and total cases to 697,413.

JAKARTA -- The free trade deal between Indonesia and Australia that completely removes most trade tariffs for the products of the two nations and aims to ramp up investment has taken effect, Indonesian Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto said here.

The Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) which took effect on Sunday was inked in 2019 and ratified by the Indonesian parliament in February, 2020. (Indonesia-Australia-Trade deal)
