BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese police on Sunday inspected 64,000 hazardous-chemical transport vehicles across the country, handling 1,320 violations, including speeding, fatigue driving and illegal parking.

The inspections are part of a new campaign targeting traffic violations by vehicles transporting hazardous chemicals.

The campaign, spanning from July 1 to Dec. 31, aims to reduce safety risks by imposing strict punishments on those violating traffic rules, according to the traffic management bureau under the Ministry of Public Security.

Members of the public have been encouraged to report such violations to traffic management departments. Enditem
