QINGDAO, China, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Fujian Sturgeons eased past the Tianjin Pioneers 129-88 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday, extending the Pioneers' losing streak to nine games.

Fujian converted successive layups in fast breaks to build a 19-2 lead after tip off. With a low shooting percentage, Tianjin fell 13 points behind as the first quarter ended.

Tianjin narrowed the gap to eight points for a brief period in the second quarter thanks to He Siyu's glittering performance. However, Fujian soon extended the margin to 14 points.

Tianjin failed to mount further resistance in the third quarter, seeing Fujian's lead surge to 30 points.

With bench players on court, Fujian broadened its lead to some 40 points until the buzzer.

Sitting second from bottom of the table after 39 rounds, Tianjin is the only team that hasn't won a game since the 2019-20 CBA resumed on June 20.

Ty Lawson scored 26 points for Fujian, Huang Yichao had 16 points, and Chen Linjian collected 15 points.

For Tianjin, He Siyu grabbed 26 points, Jin Xin finished with 13 points, Shi Deshuai and Liu Shuai each contributed 12 points.

"Our defense was weak today. We didn't restrict Fujian's three-pointers and fast breaks well enough," rued Tianjin coach Liu Tie.

"It was an excellent game. We did what we had expected. Every player had a chance to play, and they were passionate and dedicated to the game," beamed Fujian coach Aleksandar Kesar. Enditem
