BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese mainland official on Friday urged businessmen and enterprises from Taiwan to grasp development opportunities on the mainland for even better growth.

The mainland's economy is achieving steady progress with a promising and positive outlook in the long run, noted Liu Jieyi, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

Liu made the remarks when he visited Taiwan-funded enterprises in Beijing, including MediaTek and Juntai Department Store, to learn about their business and held talks with Taiwan businessmen.

People on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should join hands to safeguard the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, he said.

Liu noted that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, the mainland has attached great importance to the safety and health of Taiwan compatriots and has vigorously helped Taiwan businessmen and enterprises overcome the impact of the epidemic and resume work and production. Enditem
