NINGBO, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The China Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) reported a drop in freight indices in the U.S. routes.

The NCFI, reflecting freight rate changes of 21 routes departing from the Ningbo-Zhoushan port, stood at 786.9 points Friday, down 1.4 percent compared with last week.

The sub-reading for the east and west coast of the United States quoted 1,129.6 points and 1,598.9 points, down 5.7 percent and 6.4 percent from last week respectively.

According to the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, liner companies are more inclined to lower freight rates so as to increase cargo load, causing a rapid drop in freight rates.
