Young's 74 points can't pull Nanjing out of lose in CBA

QINGDAO, China, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Joseph Young scored 74 points and broke the personal scoring record in one game during the 2019-20 season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Monday, but his Nanjing Monkey Kings still lost to the Shandong Heroes 125-110.

The previous scoring record, 60 points, was also made by Young on June 30 in the game between Nanjing and the Liaoning Flying Leopards.

With seven players getting on the scoreboard, Shandong built a 36-21 lead in the first quarter, while Nanjing's 21 points were all from Young.

The Heroes expanded the margin to 27 points at the interval, as Chen Peidong grabbed 12 points in the second quarter for Shandong and Young collected 24 more.

With only eight players on the roster, Nanjing failed to mount further resistance afterward, seeing Shandong sail to victory.

Besides Young, Li Borun added 10 points for Nanjing and Li Hongpeng finished with nine points.

Five players scored in double digits for Shandong, as Chen got a team-high 28 points, Zhu Rongzhen had 24 points, Li Jingyu contributed 18 points and Tao Hanlin collected 16 points. Enditem
