TEHRAN -- Iran's confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 264,561 on Wednesday after an overnight registration of 2,388 new infections, official IRNA news agency reported.

Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said at her daily briefing that out of the new cases in the past 24 hours, 1,775 have been hospitalized. (Iran-COVID-19)

TEHRAN -- At least seven commercial ships caught fire in the southern Iranian port city of Bushehr on Wednesday, Tasnim news agency reported.

CAIRO -- Egypt asked Ethiopia for an official clarification if it has started filling its Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) constructed on their shared Nile River as stated in some media reports, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

JERUSALEM -- The total value of "exit" deals carried out by Israeli technology companies decreased by 22.1 percent in the first half (H1) of 2020, according to a report published on Wednesday.
