BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

BEIDOU IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has been adopted in more than 10,000 unmanned farm tractors and spraying drones in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to the regional agriculture and husbandry machinery administration.

Xinjiang has been promoting tractors, harvesters and other agricultural machinery equipped with BDS in recent years, and techniques such as precision sowing, fertilization, and pesticide spraying, based on the system to improve the working quality of the machines.

OCEANOGRAPHIC RESEARCH VESSEL

Chinese oceanographic research vessel Xiangyanghong 06 returned to its homeport in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, on Saturday after finishing a 96-day expedition in the Pacific Ocean.

The 52-member expedition team, led by a bureau under China's Ministry of Natural Resources on a mission of research on global change and sea-air interaction, carried out investigations of marine geology, geophysics, hydrology, and biology during the expedition.

DIGITAL VILLAGES

Chinese authorities have issued a circular on executing a pilot project to promote the application of digital technologies in rural areas to boost rural modernization.

The pilot project involves overall planning and design of "digital villages," improvement of new generation information infrastructure for participating villages, exploration of new models for rural digital economy and rural governance, among others. Enditem
