TEHRAN -- Iran's confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 281,413 on Wednesday after an overnight registration of 2,586 new infections, state TV reported.

At her daily briefing, Sima Sadat Lari, the spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said out of the new cases in the past 24 hours, 1,934 have been hospitalized. (Iran-COVID-19)

ADEN -- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Wednesday that more than 100,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since the beginning of the year due to fighting, insecurity and the spread of COVID-19.

ANKARA -- Turkey on Wednesday rejected an accusation by Greece of Turkey's "illegal exploration" in the eastern Mediterranean amid new drilling plans by a Turkish vessel after Ankara issued a NAVTEX advisory for a seismic survey.

"Greece raised objections to the current survey activity and claimed that the survey area is within its own continental shelf. Greece bases this claim on the presence of remote islands far from its own mainland, most notably Kastellorizo (Meis). This claim of Greece is contrary to international law, jurisprudence and court decisions," Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hami Aksoy said. (Turkey-Greek)

RAMALLAH -- Palestine on Wednesday slammed the Israeli authorities' "raid" into cultural organizations and the arrest of directors of the organizations.
