BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

AMPHIBIOUS AIRCRAFT

China's indigenously developed AG600 large amphibious aircraft succeeded in its maiden flight over sea on Sunday morning in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province.

The aircraft took off from the sea off Qingdao at 10:18 a.m. and completed the test flight after flying for about 31 minutes, said Aviation Industry Corporation of China, the developer of the aircraft.

MAPPING SATELLITE

China's surveying and mapping capabilities will be further boosted with one more high-resolution mapping satellite launched on Saturday.

The Ziyuan III 03 satellite was sent into orbit by a Long March-4B rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province.

The newly-launched satellite will join its predecessors Ziyuan III 01 and Ziyuan III 02 to form a mapping satellite constellation, for capturing high-definition, 3D images and multispectral data, said sources with the Ministry of Natural Resources, the main user of the Ziyuan III satellites.

5G STATIONS

China built 257,000 new 5G base stations in the first half of the year, bringing the total number of the stations to 410,000 by the end of June, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Shipments of 5G phones reached 86.23 million units in China, with 5G package users hitting 66 million by the end of June. Enditem
