BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- China's coastal bulk freight market had seen a decline in general demand in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE).

The composite index for coastal bulk freight fell 0.6 percent week on week to 972.08, the SSE said.

The coal sub-index edged down 0.3 percent to 920.38, the sub-index for oil products fell 1.6 percent to 1,775.57, while that for crude oil went down 1 percent to 1,541.72.

The SSE initiated the index in 2001 under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport to reflect the fluctuations of the Chinese coastal transport market. Enditem
