HONG KONG, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported 115 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, the 12th consecutive day of more than 100 cases.

All of the newly reported cases are local infections, bringing Hong Kong's total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 3,511.

Among the 115 cases, 79 cases are related to previously confirmed cases, while the sources of other 36 cases remained unknown, Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the CHP's Communicable Disease Branch, said at a media briefing on Sunday afternoon.

Sara Ho, a chief manager of Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, said at the briefing that as of Sunday 9:00 a.m. local time, 1,959 patients with confirmed infections had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, while 1,107 confirmed patients are currently hospitalized, including 34 in critical condition and 71 in serious condition. The number of deaths from COVID-19 rose to 34.

The community treatment facility at the AsiaWorld-Expo near the Hong Kong International Airport that started to operate on Saturday has received 31 patients so far, according to Ho.

Apart from the AsiaWorld-Expo, the Hospital Authority also used the Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday Village as a community isolation facility to receive suitable patients to alleviate the demand for isolation beds in public hospitals. Enditem
