1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index going up 1.75 percent, at 3,367.97 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.40 percent higher at 13,964.56 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices expanded to 1.33 trillion yuan (about 190.6 billion U.S. dollars) from 1.15 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Gainers overwhelmed losers by 1,362 to 122 on the Shanghai bourse and 2,094 to 155 in Shenzhen.

Stocks related to military industry projects, satellite navigation and drones led the gains, with shares of PIESAT Information Technology Co.,Ltd, a remote sensing satellite technology provider, surging by 15.17 percent to 55.95 yuan apiece.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.63 percent to close at 2,868.88 points Monday. Enditem
