BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The following are highlights of China's major cultural news from the past week:

-- Online-game copyright affairs committee established in Beijing

The Copyright Society of China has established a new committee dealing with online-game copyright issues, with the aim of promoting the healthy development of China's game industry.

The online game copyright affairs committee was officially created in Beijing, and is dedicated to promoting the use, protection and management of online-game copyrights and tightening self-discipline in the industry.

-- Art exhibition showcases China's COVID-19 fight

A fine artwork exhibition, featuring the Chinese people's fight against COVID-19, is being held at the National Museum of China.

The exhibition offers a glance at the country's epidemic containment efforts, people's daily life in the anti-virus struggle, the resumption of work and production, and medical assistance to other countries.

The nearly 200 works on display include traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, sculptures, calligraphy, seal cutting and other fine arts.

-- China to further promote development of sci-fi films

A guideline on promoting the development of sci-fi films has been jointly issued by the China Film Administration and the China Association for Science and Technology.

The guideline lists 10 policies and measures on the production, screening, special effects, and other issues concerning sci-fi films. It also highlights sci-fi films as a significant growth area and a new driving force for the high-quality development of China's film industry. Enditem
