BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Intellectual property rights (IPR) authorities of BRICS countries have agreed to enhance digital cooperation to provide more support for IPR holders and the public.

The 12th BRICS Heads of Intellectual Property Offices Meeting was held online recently, focusing on reducing the influence brought by COVID-19 and discussing the patent authorization of medicines during the outbreak.

Shen Changyu, head of China's National Intellectual Property Administration, said as the COVID-19 pandemic brought huge challenges to global public health, economic development and innovation, the IPR offices of BRICS countries should promote digital cooperation to jointly cope with the global challenge.

The IPR cooperation among BRICS countries, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, was launched in 2012. They have made achievements in the fields like increasing awareness of the IPR, personnel training, trade mark and appearance design. Enditem
