Ruichang, Qingdao enjoy straight victories at China Badminton Super League

CHENGDU, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Powerhouse Ruichang Biyuan and Qingdao Renzhou swept their respective rivals 5-0 to claim their second straight victories at 2020 China Badminton super League (CBSL) here on Sunday.

Chen Qingchen/Zheng Yu eased past Feng Xueying/Zheng Xuhui 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 to take the opening point for Ruichang in the women's doubles, before their teammate Li Shipei fought for one hour to beat Lei Lanxi 11-6, 9-11, 6-11, 13-11, 11-6 in the men's singles.

"I felt satisfied with my performance today. With 11 points per set, we need to be decisive, move fast and play fiercely," said Li.

Ruichang continued to win as Li Junhui/Ren Xiangyu defeated Ling Weikeng/Xiao Shicheng 11-7, 11-9, 10-12, 11-7 in the men's doubles, and He Bingjiao overcame Zhang Yiman 11-9, 10-12, 7-11, 12-10, 11-7 in a tight game of women's singles.

"Zhang played well today and that gave me much pressure," the 23-year-old national team member He admitted.

In the mixed doubles, world champion Huang Yaqiong partnered with Feng Yanzhe to move past Deng Jiaqiang/Wu Yingshi in straight sets to add the fifth point for Ruichang.

Four-time CBSL champions Qingdao, featuring many top shuttlers including Chen Yufei, Zheng Siwei, Jia Yifan and Liu Yuchen, overwhelmed Anhui Souyu 5-0.

Zhejiang Nengyuan, the 2018-19 CBSL champion, beat Jiangsu Weikeduo 4-1, while Xiamen Tefang lost to Hunan Hualai 2-3.

The 2020 CBSL runs from August 27 to September 14 in Chengdu. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, all games are played in closed arenas. Enditem
