1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close mixed Wednesday

BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.17 percent at 3,404.80 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.27 percent higher at 13,887.43 points.

The combined stock turnover at the two bourses came in at 969 billion yuan (about 141.7 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 851.4 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers 836 to 558 on the Shanghai bourse, while the Shenzhen market saw a total of 1,279 gainers, outnumbering 890 losers.

Shares related to agriculture planting and logistics sectors led the gains, with shares of Shanghai YTO Express (Logistics) Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 18.37 yuan apiece.

Bucking the trend, shares of liquor producers and gold suffered heavy losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.78 percent to close at 2,771.85 points. Enditem
