BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- China's national observatory Saturday renewed a blue alert for Typhoon Haishen, which is expected to bring strong winds to parts of eastern China's sea areas.

The super typhoon, the tenth this year, was observed on the northwestern Pacific Ocean, about 890 km south of Japan's Kyushu island at 5 p.m. Saturday, with a maximum wind force of 60 meters per second near its center, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.

The NMC forecast the typhoon to move northwest at a speed of 20 km per hour and gradually strengthen.

From Saturday night to Sunday night, gales are expected to hit parts of the East China Sea, the Yellow Sea and waters off eastern Taiwan.

The NMC has advised people and vessels in disaster-prone areas to shelter from winds.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Enditem
