BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.72 percent, at 3,316.42 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.07 percent higher at 13,293.33 points.
The combined stock turnover at the two bourses came in at 924.4 billion yuan (about 135.2 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 1.02 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers 978 to 451 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,532 to 689 on the Shenzhen bourse.
Shares related to cloud gaming and environmental engineering sectors led the gains, with shares of CECEP Wind-power Corporation Co., Ltd. surging by 10.04 percent to close at 2.96 yuan apiece.
Bucking the trend, shares in the liquor and photoresist sectors suffered heavy losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.36 percent to close at 2,650.63 points Tuesday. Enditem
