BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Renowned filmmaker Peter Ho-sun Chan's highly anticipated sports movie "Leap" will hit Chinese theaters on Sept. 25, days earlier than its original release date of Sept. 30, according to a statement issued on the film's verified Sina Weibo account.

The earlier release could give the production a head start in the hotly competitive race among blockbusters during the upcoming National Day holiday which begins Oct. 1, typically one of the busiest movie-going weeks of the year.

Starring Gong Li as legendary volleyball coach Lang Ping, the film shines a spotlight on the Chinese women's national volleyball team, depicting their endeavors over generations to win glory for the country. Enditem
