BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese-produced opera film "Aida" will be shown at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing on Sept. 20.

Premiered in 1871, "Aida" was one of the most popular masterpieces written by the famous Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, depicting the love story between Ethiopian princess Aida and Egyptian hero Radames.

With their countries at war against each other, the couple is caught in a dilemma of choosing between love and loyalty to defend their countries.

Aida's commitment to her motherland and overwhelming infatuation with Radames paired with a messy love triangle and the protagonist's fall from grace have left audiences around the world lamenting over this tragic romance for over a century.

The three-hour production was performed by the China NCPA Chorus and Orchestra. Tickets for the show are available on the NCPA's website. Enditem
