Shanghai reports two new imported COVID-19 cases

SHANGHAI, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai reported two imported COVID-19 cases and no domestically transmitted cases on Tuesday, the municipal health commission said Wednesday.

One of the patients is a Chinese national who left the United States on Aug. 30 and arrived in Shanghai via the Netherlands on Sept. 1, while the other is an Indian who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport from India on Sept. 2.

They started to show symptoms while under quarantine in Shanghai and were later diagnosed as confirmed cases. The two have been hospitalized. A total of 45 close contacts have been put under quarantine.

As of Tuesday, Shanghai had reported 608 confirmed imported cases and 342 locally transmitted cases. Enditem
