SUZHOU, China, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Qingdao Huanghai's hopes of avoiding relegation suffered a setback on Wednesday when the newly-promoted side lost to Chongqing Lifan 3-0 in the 11th round of the postponed 2020 Chinese Super League (CSL).

After suffering five defeats consecutively, Qingdao had no chance of being among the top eight in the next league session, although three games of the first session remain on the schedule.

Alan Kardec, who reached his 100th appearance in Chongqing Lifan, assisted Fernandinho Silva to break the deadlock in the 58th minute. Eight minutes later, the 31-year-old converted in a penalty chance.

Adrian Mierzejewski added the third in the 71st minute after collecting Marcelo Cirino's heel pass in close range, bringing three league wins in a row to Lifan.

According to the season's CSL rules, the best four teams from Group A and Group B will compete in the second session.

Qingdao rank seventh with three games left in the Suzhou division, trailing Wuhan Zall, who rank fourth by nine points. Considering that Wuhan had defeated Qingdao twice in the season, it was impossible for the champions of the 2019 season second-tier league to reach the last eight round.

In the other game played on Wednesday in the Suzhou division, Tianjin Teda held a 1-1 draw with Shijiazhuang Ever Bright. Frank Acheampong's header put Teda ahead in the 70th minute, but Chen Pu helped Shijiazhung level up in nine minutes.
