BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

OZONE POLLUTION

China's leading academic institution for natural sciences announced that it has launched a special research project to solve the problems of how ozone pollution forms and how to control it.

Ozone pollution is a form of air pollution characterized by high concentrations of ozone, a form of oxygen, at ground level. At present, global ozone concentration is on the rise, with an average annual increase of about one microgram per cubic meter.

GLOBAL INNOVATION NETWORK

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has been actively integrating into the global innovation network, highlighting information sharing and international cooperation.

As a national scientific research organization, CAS has been accelerating its pace of "going out" and actively integrating into the international innovation network, regardless of the current backlash against globalization.

MICROPLASTICS

Chinese researchers have proved that microplastics are ubiquitous in rivers, lakes and sediment in reservoirs.

Their research findings revealed that 70 percent of microplastics in the marine environment come from rivers, found largely in river sediment. Enditem
