1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Tuesday

BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.29 percent, at 3,274.3 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.96 percent lower at 13,023.43 points.

The combined turnover of the two bourses shrank to 702.3 billion yuan (about 103.47 billion U.S. dollars) from 755.08 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 1,258 to 169 on the Shanghai bourse, and by 1,875 to 365 on the Shenzhen stock exchange.

Shares related to securities and medical equipment led the gains, with Guoyuan Securities Company Limited surging by 9.96 percent to close at 12.03 yuan a share.

Companies in the sectors of aviation and Internet of Things for electrical appliances led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.53 percent to close at 2,555.54 points Tuesday. Enditem
