BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

XICHANG SATELLITE LAUNCH CENTER

Southwest China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center will carry out 10 space launches including the Chang'e-5 lunar probe by the end of March next year, a center official said on Monday.

The center will carry out launch missions twice a month on average, with a minimum interval of five days, said Zhang Xueyu, director of the launch center.

ARTIFICIAL HEART

A new artificial heart design powered by Chinese rocket technology is being tried on patients with weak hearts.

The trials were launched on Sept. 13 by clinicians at the TEDA International Cardiovascular Hospital in north China's Tianjin Municipality. After being implanted into a 63-year-old male patient to replace his failed heart, the device has functioned as a pump to deliver blood to the whole body, significantly alleviating the symptoms of heart failure.

ALLIANCE FOR NETWORK INFORMATION SECURITY

China has set up a new alliance to promote technological innovation on network information security.

The alliance, a non-profit organization, was coordinated by enterprises, universities and research institutions. It will create a platform for promoting scientific and technological innovation and the development of network information security and coordinating efforts on a larger scale. Enditem
