XI'AN, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Eight Italian films are being shown at the screening session of the 7th Silk Road International Film Festival, which opened on Sunday in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

"I'm looking forward to seeing many good films and exchanging views with the international jury," said Paolo Del Brocco, CEO of Rai Cinema, during an online interview on Monday. "It's important to watch many films coming from different countries with different points of view."

It's also an opportunity to find some films that are suitable for the Italian public, he said.

The six-day event involves more than 3,000 films from 116 countries and regions. A total of 17 recommended films were selected by seven renowned industry practitioners from around the world, including Paolo Del Brocco and Chinese director Lu Chuan.

Two special units, "Focus on Italy" and "Silk Road Master: Federico Fellini," introduced eight Italian films to the Chinese audience, including "The Leisure Seeker," "Perfect Strangers," "Trash," "Martin Eden," "The Young and the Passionate," "Fellini's Roma," "Eight and a Half" and "The Sweet Life."

Shaanxi is home to the Terracotta Warriors and the starting point of the Silk Road. First held in 2014, the Silk Road International Film Festival is hosted annually by Shaanxi and east China's Fujian Province in turn. Enditem
