CHENGDU, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai defeated Henan 71-66 and Dongguan smashed Daqing 117-64 on the first game day of the sixth round of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) here on Friday.
Shanghai started the match with a 7-0 edge before Henan tied the game. Two jump shots of Zhang Zhiting and Zhou Yuyan helped Shanghai take the lead in the first quarter 16-11.
The five-point lead played a big role as neither of the two teams could finish a single quarter in the rest of the game with a margin of more than two points. Shanghai enjoyed its third straight victory by defeating Henan 71-66 despite that Henan's Zhang Ru had a game-high 21 points.
The game between Dongguan and Daqing became one-sided after tipoff. The former soon established a 10-point lead in the first quarter, continued to extend the lead to 17 before half-time, showing no mercy to smash Daqing 117-64.
Three players from Dongguan scored more than 20 points including Shen Yi's game-high 24 points.
In another game, Hebei beat Wuhan 76-70 despite Wuhan outscored them 14 points in the last quarter. Enditem
