BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's major technology news from the past week:
OPTICAL REMOTE-SENSING SATELLITE
China successfully launched a new optical remote-sensing satellite from the southwestern Xichang Satellite Launch Center at 12:57 a.m. on Monday (Beijing Time).
The high-orbit optical remote-sensing satellite, Gaofen-13, was sent into orbit by a Long March-3B carrier rocket.
SATELLITES LAUNCH
Southwest China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center will carry out 10 space launches including the Chang'e-5 lunar probe by the end of March next year, a center official said on Monday.
The center will carry out launch missions twice a month on average, with a minimum interval of five days, said Zhang Xueyu, director of the launch center.
CHANG'E-4 PROBE RESUMES WORK
The lander and rover of the Chang'e-4 probe have resumed work for the 23rd lunar day on the far side of the moon.
The probe has survived 647 Earth days on the moon, and the Yutu-2 rover will conduct the scientific detection of a lunar rock during this lunar day.
AI MODEL IN SCREENING COVID-19
Chinese researchers have published a paper in the journal Nature Communications earlier this month proposing an artificial intelligence model that can help doctors quickly differentiate between COVID-19, influenza and other pneumonia with high accuracy.
Researchers from Tsinghua University and Wuhan-based Huazhong University of Science and Technology have developed and evaluated an AI system using a large dataset with more than 11,000 CT volumes from COVID-19, influenza, non-viral community-acquired pneumonia and non-pneumonia.
EARLY DETECTION OF DIABETIC VISION LOSS
Chinese researchers have discovered a group of new serum metabolite biomarkers with high sensitivity in early-stage detection of diabetic retinopathy (DR).
Researchers recruited a total of 905 diabetic patients as subjects, with and without DR, at different clinical stages and used multi-platform metabolomics to define potential metabolite biomarkers for DR diagnosis. Enditem
