Playing five young bench players, Shanghai's head coach Ren Qi praised his team despite the loss. "Zhejiang are a better team considering height, strength and tactics, but my players were not nervous and very concentrated in the game. It was a good opportunity for them to learn and improve."
Defending champion Jiangsu brushed aside Henan 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) to get their first victory of the tournament.
