Jiangsu Dragons suffer third straight CBA defeat in new season

ZHUJI, China, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Jiangsu Dragons lost to the Guangzhou Loong Lions 92-73 to remain winless after three games in the 2020-21 season of Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday.

The game was considered a clash between two former China national team coaches. Guangzhou suffered two straight losses under Guo Shiqiang while Jiangsu has faced the same situation in Li Nan's debut season as a CBA coach.

Guangzhou started the game 9-0 with Tian Yuheng and Zhu Mingzhen's three pointers. Jiangsu managed to cut the deficit to five at the end of the first quarter. Guangdong forward Guo Kai scored straight points in the paint to help the team extend the lead to double digits in the middle of the second quarter.

With the scoring performance of Dallas Moore, Guangzhou once led by over 20 points after the halftime. Jiangsu was not able to turn the tables to give their opponents their first victory of the new season.

Five players of Guangzhou scored double digits as Moore had team high 18 points, Sun Mingyang had 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Guo Kai contributed 12 points and nine rebounds.

Jiang Haoran led Jiangsu with 17 points, while Zheng Qilong, the No. 5 pick who surprised the league with 38 points in the first two career games, was limited to six points. Enditem
