DALIAN, China, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Rafael Benitez's Dalian Pro rid themselves off the danger of being relegated after they beat Shijiazhuang Ever Bright 2-0 in their second leg of a Chinese Super League (CSL) tie on Thursday.

The Dalian team, who lost the first leg 2-1, qualified for the next playoff 3-2 on aggregate, where they will vie for the 9-12th position of the coronavirus-affected season.

Lin Liangming scored the opener in the 21st minute when he headed in a corner kick, and Wang Pengyao sealed the win for Dalian Pro in the 44th minute with a crucial header.

The Shijiazhuang side will face Shenzhen FC in their next two-legged playoff, with the losers to be placed among the bottom two sides.

Those two sides will play one more two-legged playoff, and the losers will be relegated while the winners will vie with the runners-up of the second-tier league to vie for Chinese Super League spot of next season.

The 16 sides were split into two groups in the first phase between July 22 and September 28, playing in a round-robin format in Dalian and Suzhou.

The top four teams from each group in the first phase gathered in Suzhou to vie for the title between October 16 and November 12.

Meanwhile, the remaining eight teams fight off relegation in Dalian. Enditem
