Shanghai, Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index down in September

BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Stocks on Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses saw their key indices down at the end of September from the end of August, according to the People's Bank of China, the country's central bank.

At the end of September, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index closed at 3,218.05, down 177.63 points, or 5.2 percent, month on month.

The Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index closed at 12,907.45 points at the end of last month, down 850.78 points, or 6.2 percent from the end of August.

In September, the daily average turnover was 283.13 billion yuan on the Shanghai bourse, down 38.34 percent month on month, and 489.01 billion yuan on the Shenzhen bourse, down 18.8 percent month on month. Enditem
