Guangdong beats Hubei in Chinese Men's Volleyball Championship

ZHANGZHOU, China, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Guangdong beat Hubei 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-19) in the fifth round of Chinese Men's Volleyball Championship here on Saturday.

Following their defeat, Hubei can now no longer progress to the tournament's knockout stage.

Guangdong, who have nine points with three wins in Group B, will secure a last eight berth if they beat Hebei in the last round of group games on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Beijing edged Sichuan 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 27-25), while Zhejiang beat Tianjin 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-23). Both teams scored their fifth consecutive wins to top their respective groups.

Other games on Saturday saw Fujian beat Henan 3-2 (30-28, 21-25, 24-26, 25-23, 18-16), while Jiangsu defeated winless Liaoning 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-21), and Shanghai eased past Hebei 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-22). Enditem
