1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher on Wednesday

BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.46 percent to end at 3,269.24 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.89 percent higher at 13,388.1 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 733.16 billion yuan (about 109.11 billion U.S. dollars).

Losers outnumbered gainers 721 to 666 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,157 to 1,045 in Shenzhen.

Shares of companies in the sectors of degradable plastics and alcohol production led the gains, with Shanxi Xinghuacun Fen Wine Factory Co., Ltd. climbing 7.06 percent to 223.5 yuan per share.

Meanwhile, companies related to banking and digital currency weakened.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.74 percent to close at 2,670.48 points Wednesday. Enditem
