1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.47 percent, at 3,224.53 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.09 percent lower at 13,236.6 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 870.84 billion yuan (about 129.53 billion U.S. dollars), up from 780.27 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers 1,240 to 193 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,971 to 293 in Shenzhen.

Shares of companies in the liquor and weaving sectors led the losses, with Beijing Shunxin Agriculture Co., Ltd. dropping by the daily limit of 10 percent to 54.94 yuan per share.

Bucking the downward trend, companies related to semi-conductors led the gains.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.63 percent to close at 2,655.86 points Friday. Enditem
