BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- China's Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange (SHPGX), a national energy trading center, on Friday launched an international LNG tender service on its online international LNG trading system.

It was the latest move to meet the purchase and sales demands of LNG market players from both domestic and international markets.

Chinese oil and gas giants Sinopec and CNOOC announced their purchase tenders on the exchange's online international LNG trading system on Friday.

The two domestic oil majors will purchase several cargo ships of LNG, each carrying 65,000 tonnes, from the international market in the next few months. CNOOC will purchase 65,000 tonnes of LNG on behalf of CR Gas, one of the top coal gas companies in China.

A number of foreign gas suppliers including Total, Mitsui & Co., Glencore, RWE and Aramco Trading have been invited to participate in the tenders.

SHPGX began trial operations of its online international LNG trading system on Aug. 28, when Sinopec and CNOOC reached LNG purchase deals with their foreign counterparts through the system's bidding service, with the total trade volume hitting 130,000 tonnes.

Registered members of the exchange can now initiate spot, mid or long-term LNG purchase or sales tenders via the exchange's online international LNG trading system, said SHPGX.

The exchange is also mulling the establishment of a group purchasing service for small-sized LNG buyers in accordance with market demand. Enditem
