BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The State Council held a meeting Friday to study and implement the guiding principles of the fifth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Premier Li Keqiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting of the State Council's leading Party members group.

The decisions and arrangements made at the plenary session should be implemented in the work of the government and translated into policies to promote economic and social development, according to the meeting.

The meeting urged efforts to promote high-quality development and deepen supply-side structural reform to accelerate the establishment of a new development pattern, with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other.

More work should be done to comprehensively deepen reforms in transforming government functions, optimize the business environment and vigorously foster innovations in science and technology, according to the meeting.

The meeting also decided to pursue the strategy of expanding domestic demand and promote higher-level opening up, while facilitating the modernization of industrial and supply chains, advancing green development as well as fully promoting rural vitalization.

It was also stressed at the meeting that more development achievements should be turned into improvements in people's well-being in order to better satisfy the people's ever-growing desire for a better life.

The State Council will promptly organize the formulation of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development in accordance with the guiding principles of the plenary session, the meeting said.

The meeting also underscored work to better coordinate this year's government work with the 14th Five-Year Plan and ensure that this year's development targets are met so as to lay a solid foundation for a good start to the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Enditem
