Jilin climbs to third place in CBA

ZHUJI, China, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- With five players scoring double-digit numbers, the Jilin Northeast Tigers smashed the Qingdao Eagles 105-84 in the eighth round of the ongoing 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League here on Wednesday.

After the win, Jilin, who lost only one game in the first eight rounds, climbed to third place in the league's standings.

Jiang Yuxing got a team-high 16 points for Jilin, along with eight rebounds and five assists. Cui Jinming finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Dai Huaibo pocketed 18 points.

Jilin had a comfortable lead from the start. Qingdao narrowed the gap to four points at the end of the first quarter. Qingdao's top star Darius Adams didn't score enough help the team catch up. Jilin finished the first half with a 14-point advantage.

Launching a 13-3 run in the second half, Jilin kept extending the gap. Qingdao failed to bounce back from getting in foul trouble. Jilin was finally able to grab a victory.

Zhang Chengyu contributed 20 points, three rebounds and one assist for Qingdao, while Yang Jinmeng got 17 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. Enditem
