NINGBO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The China Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) reported a soar in freight indices in the Thailand and Vietnam routes.

The NCFI, reflecting freight rate changes of 21 routes departing from the Ningbo-Zhoushan port, stood at 1,224.4 points in October, up 4.8 percent compared with last month.

The sub-index for the routes to Thailand and Vietnam stood at 693 points, up 56.8 percent compared with last month and up 22.6 percent year on year.

According to the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, after the National Day holiday, the market demand for transportation was strong and the shipping space was in short supply. Liner companies thus pushed up freight rates sharply.

Reported every Friday (except Chinese holidays), the NCFI was first published in September 2013. Enditem
