JERUSALEM -- Israeli archaeologists have discovered a 3,000-year-old fortified building, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) said on Wednesday.

The rare fort was uncovered during an archaeological excavation led by the IAA at a small hill in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights. (Israel-Archaeological finding)

GAZA -- Hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza on Wednesday marked the 16th anniversary of the death of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

TEHRAN -- Iran registered on Wednesday 462 deaths related to COVID-19 and 11,780 new cases, both the highest daily figure since the outbreak of the disease in the country.

Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said during her daily briefing that 3,339 of the newly infected were hospitalized. (Iran-COVID19)

BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi Health Ministry reported on Wednesday 3,198 new COVID-19 cases, raising the nationwide infections to 508,508.

The new cases included 1,108 in the capital Baghdad, 415 in Duhok, 280 in Sulaimaniyah, 234 in Salahudin, and 231 in Nineveh, the ministry said in a statement. (Iraq-COVID19) Enditem
