ZHUJI, China, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Hamed Haddadi recorded a brilliant triple-double of 21 points, 22 rebounds and 16 assists to lead the Sichuan Blue Whales past the Shenzhen Aviators 100-92 in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season here on Friday.

It is the third triple-double of the season for the 35-year-old Iranian center, who contributed 32 points plus 17 rebounds and 13 assists in the last game.

"Tactically, we played well throughout, specially in controlling errors. We must train harder to improve ourselves in the offseason," Sichuan head coach Zhou Jinli said.

Sichuan's Li Yuanyu and Chen Chen scored 25 and 17 points respectively. Askia Booker had 28 points and 11 rebounds while Shen Zijie added 17 points and 11 rebounds for Shenzhen.

It was a seesaw battle between the two teams as Sichuan held onto a 74-71 lead at the end of the third quarter. Haddadi scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, leading Sichuan to a 16-5 run to seal the victory.

"Our defence gave too much space to Haddadi. We have to play harder and smarter as a team," Shenzhen's head coach Qiu Biao said. Enditem
