TEHRAN -- Iran's Health Ministry reported 11,203 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, raising the total nationwide infection to 749,525.

The pandemic has so far claimed 41,034 lives in Iran, up by 452 in the past 24 hours, said Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, during her daily briefing. (Iran-COVID19)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Saturday denied media reports about recent assassination of an al-Qaida leader in the capital Tehran.

The New York Times reported on Friday that al-Qaida's second-in-command was killed by the Israeli operatives in Tehran in August. (Iran-Al-Qaida)

BEIRUT -- Lebanese civil defense teams and army on Saturday controlled a large fire in northern Lebanon that was caused by leaked oil from the punctured pipeline running from Iraq to Lebanon, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

It added that the oil is still leaking from the pipelines, which may cause new fire. (Lebanon-Fire)

BEIRUT -- Restaurants, bars, cafes, gyms and malls closed their doors on Saturday as Lebanon entered its first day of a two-week lockdown to restrict the spread of COVID-19.
