BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.22 percent to 3,347.3 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.54 percent lower at 13,658.2 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices shrank to 821.7 billion yuan (about 125.26 billion U.S. dollars), down from 853.5 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers 852 to 542 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,310 to 895 in Shenzhen.
Shares related to the non-ferrous metals industry were active, while shares in the liquor industry led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of fast-growing enterprises, lost 1.41 percent to close at 2,620.67 points on Wednesday. Enditem
