BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese researchers have mapped genetic breast cancer mutations in the Chinese population, providing reference for precision treatment, according to the China Science Daily on Thursday.

Researchers from the Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center led a large-scale prospective clinical sequencing program and comprehensively analyzed the clinical and genomic characteristics of Chinese breast cancer patients.

Researchers collected tumor tissue and peripheral blood samples from 1,134 Chinese breast cancer patients. By combining them with the clinical data, they compiled a gene mutation map of breast cancer in the Chinese population.

They identified several gene mutations that are highly related to breast cancer in the Chinese population, and found that the most significant differences between the mutational landscapes of Chinese and Western patients occur in HR-positive and HER2-negative breast cancers.

The research provides a basis for the precise treatment of breast cancer in China and has good prospects for clinical application.

The research was published in the journal Nature Communications. Enditem
