SHANTOU, China, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) --The emblem, slogan and mascot for the 2021 Asian Youth Games in Shantou were unveiled here on Saturday.

The emblem is based on the classic red-headed boat in Shantou, according to the official introduction of the emblem. "Shantou is the hometown of the red-headed boat. The figure combines elements with the Chinese character 'Shan' and the sun logo of the OCA. It presents the sports image in the bright sunshine and shows the vigorous spirit of Asian youth," a speaker of the 2021 Asian Youth Games organising committee said.

The mascot is named "Jinfengwa," and is inspired by Shantou's city flower, the Jinfeng flower, and integrates local cultural elements. The fusion of a blooming Jinfeng flower and glorious sun, the core element of the OCA's emblem, embodies the values of the OCA.

The 2021 Asian Youth Games slogan is "Surging Waves, Dynamic Youth."

"Ocean culture is deeply rooted in Shantou city. The slogan aims at encouraging Asian youths to face the challenges like sailors navigating waves in the ocean. It also presents the vigor, passion and courage of Asian youths," the speaker added.

The 2021 Asian Youth Games will be held in the southeast city from November 20 to 28, 2021. With one year to go before the opening ceremony, the local organizing committee was founded and the preparations have entered into a new era. Enditem
