GAZA, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli army attacked Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip early Sunday after Palestinian militants fired a handmade rocket from the coastal enclave toward Israel, according to Palestinian security sources.

The Palestinian sources told Xinhua that the Israeli warplanes attacked Hamas' sites in the cities of Gaza, Khan Younis and Rafah, adding that the raids caused massive explosions.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that the Israeli army began a series of attacks on Hamas' sites in the coastal enclave in response to launching a handmade rocket from the strip.

The Israeli public radio said that the rocket exploded in a local factory's yard south of Ashkelon, causing damage in the place.

However, no injuries were reported, according to Avichai Adraee, spokesman of the Israeli army.

No Palestinian faction claimed responsibility for launching the rocket. Enditem
