KUNMING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- An international conference promoting various flower varieties was held in the city of Kaiyuan, southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Thursday, according to the organizer.

The event attracted 14 enterprises and more than 300 flower-industry practitioners from countries and regions including China, the Netherlands, the United States and Japan.

The event demonstrated the flower-industry process, from planting to market application, through various activities such as on-site promotion, a flower-art exhibition and livestreaming. The enterprises attending the event also released new varieties of chrysanthemums, roses and other flowers.

In 2019, the total flower-planting area in the province stood at 117,000 hectares with an output of 75.17 billion yuan (about 11.43 billion U.S. dollars). The province produced 13.97 billion stems of fresh-cut flowers in 2019, ranking first in the world. Enditem
