DAMASCUS -- Israeli strikes targeted positions of Iranian-backed fighters in the Syrian eastern province of Deir al-Zour on Thursday, killing 19, a war monitor reported.

The strikes targeted the fighters' positions west of the city of al-Bukamal in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-Israel-Strikes)

RAMALLAH -- A senior Palestinian official said on Thursday that the disagreements with the Islamic Hamas movement over holding the general elections in Palestine would not stop the Palestinian reconciliation dialogue.

TEHRAN -- Iran's Health Ministry reported 13,961 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, raising the total nationwide infections to 908,346.
